Radleigh lends support to Ecclesbourne School Technology Day for ninth year

Students at Ecclesbourne School in Duffield have additional seating on their school campus thanks to a recent Technology Day supported by Radleigh.
With the help of the Derby-based house builder, 11 and 12 year old pupils built two brick benches which are now sited on the school’s grounds for use by students.
It is the ninth year that Radleigh has supported the technology-based project and brings the number of benches constructed by the Year 7 students to 18.
Tony Bennett, Head of Technology at Eccelsbourne School added: “We are most grateful to Radleigh not only for all their assistance with our Technology Day but their ongoing support in offering our students work experience."
“A proportion of our students go into careers in the construction industry and we very much welcome the help Radleigh gives us in providing on-site experience to our Year 10 and 11 pupils."
“The bench building exercise is a practical, hands-on way of introducing younger students to some of the skills required. It also has citizenship benefits by allowing students to create a lasting reminder of their work which can be enjoyed by the school for many years to come.”
Chris Neve, joint managing director of Radleigh Group, said the company was pleased to lend its support to such a worthwhile initiative and valued its long relationship with staff and students at Ecclesbourne School.
He added: “The construction and technology sectors offer exciting career opportunities to young people and we appreciate the chance to play our part in helping students develop practical skills from an early age.”
